Surly Pugsley 2011

The world of snow bikes is led by a company called Surly. Here is there new 2011 Pugsley Complete. Until this year they sold this bike as a frame only, now you can get this thing complete and ready to roll. I had a chance to take this baby out in 4-6 inches of snow, and I must say this bike rocks! The best grip is with 8-10psi in these big tires. So go to your local bike shop and get a snow bike on order.

Well my new Blackspire Sub4 pedals have arrived, and they are installed. These are a nice low weight pedal and they provide a good grip in all conditions. Here are the specs as well as the link to Universal Cycles if you would like to purchase these.

  • Blackspire Sub4 pedals
  • CNC machined in Canada from custom extruded 6061-T6 aluminum
  • 17mm super low-profile concave parallelogram body
  • 10 replaceable pins per side
  • spindle: CrMo
  • size: 9/16″
  • color: black
  • weight: 350g

Mr.Whirly The new Surly Mr. Whirly is now installed with a 30 tooth stainless steel Surly chain ring. Now the 1×9 setup looks much cleaner

and works great via the Paul BB Chain Keeper. Now I don’t have to worry about dropping the chain off the front ring.

Let’s talk about sizing of this bike. I am 6′-0″ with an inseam of 34″ inches and the 20″ Surly Pugsley fits perfect, especially if you plan on wearing some boots in the winter.

Here is my latest photo with the Surly Nice Rear rack installed. This is a heavy duty rack which can handle plenty of weight, so load it up and get riding!
